Dating from the reign of King George III (1760-1820) and occasionally used by royalty throughout the 19th Century, the hotel is the oldest building in the centre of his historic border city. The hotel is located just across the road from Carlisle Railway Station and only a few minutes walk into the pedestrianised shopping centre. The Gallerie Restaurant offers a la carte dining, whereas Jr's Diner offers a more informal setting with bar menu. Transport links include the near M6 motorway and the railway connecting directly to London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
